Simply put, a joiner constructs items by joining pieces of wood without using metal fasteners, screws or nails. A carpenter will then take these items and fit them on site usually using metal fasteners, screws and nails and carpenter would also undertake tasks such as fitting locks and door furniture.

Carpentry and joinery involves carrying out advanced skilled work, primarily using timber products, either on a construction site, or in a workshop, creating and installing building components.

Joinery installation. This class includes:- installation of doors (except automated and revolving), windows, door and window frames, of wood or other materials- installation of fitted kitchens, built-in cupboards, staircases, shop fittings and the like- interior completion such as ceilings, movable partitions, etc.
